Gen 5 Ch 6: Don't Say "Not Now"

Every so often, Evelyn liked to invite a couple of friends and family to go out clubbing with her. It was a great way to keep up with what was going on in their lives, while following her agent's demands to make herself seen around town at the same time.

Bridgette was pregnant again, but Eric had excused himself that evening. It seemed that the once so perfect couple still hadn't passed that rocky patch in their marriage.

Esteban, on the other hand, was always more than happy to follow Evelyn's invitations and party. It was a positive change in him, seeing how he had always been the most distant of her older siblings.

Maybe Danielle was a good influence on him?

The party ended pretty quickly when Bridgette went into labor. Esteban and Danielle then took her to the hospital and called Eric to let him know.

Knowing that she couldn't be of much help at the hospital, Evelyn stayed behind after everyone left.
Besides, her agent had made a deal with this particular establishment - as a publicity stunt, they wanted to have the rising starlet Evelyn dance there for three hours, and in return she would be paid a hefty sum.

Evelyn wasn’t sure whom her dancing was supposed to impress. There was no one there besides the barkeeper, herself, and another person that had just walked in.

Well, her dancing did seem to impress him.

And boy, did he have some moves of his own!

After a while, Evelyn broke the silence. She had to raise her voice to be heard over the blaring music. “At the risk of sounding like a cheesy pick-up line… Haven’t we met before? I feel like I know you from somewhere.”

“Really? You don’t remember?”

And suddenly, she did.

“I thought you were just playing coy! I recognized you immediately as the little girl with the beautiful voice.”
His Simlish was close to perfect, but the unmistakable Champs Les Sims accent was still there. Rémy Dutiel, as he reintroduced himself, had spent all his life traveling the world with his parents, and when he came of age, continued to do so by himself. He and Evelyn had met only once, briefly, as children in her place of birth and now, such a long time later, in her home of choice.

“It is almost like destiny, no?” he grinned.

They went out on another date the following night.

It was surreal. Sometimes she saw the cheery, grinning boy of her childhood in him; and other times there was only an attractive, charming, suave man in front of her.

Evelyn herself felt like a little girl again - finally finding a friend her age when all her siblings were too grown up to play with her. And then again she felt more adult than ever before, when he looked at her with those dark eyes...

“I thought about going to The Grind tomorrow night,” Evelyn told Rémy as she brought another round of drinks. “Want to meet me there?”

“I am sorry, Eveline, but I can’t. I am leaving for Isla Paradiso tomorrow. There is scuba diving work there, to uncover underwater treasures for archaeological purposes and I--“

“Oh, so tonight is your last night here, huh?” Evelyn took a sip of her drink to hide her disappointment. What had she been thinking, really? Rémy was a world traveler, always on the lookout for new adventure. He probably had a girl in every port, as they said. This was just another fling to him.

“Actually, I was ‘oping that you would accompany me.”

Evelyn almost choked on her drink.

After an embarrassing coughing fit during which a concerned Rémy had tried to pound her on the back, only to be waved away, Evelyn stared at him in shock. Now was one of those times where she felt like a little girl again. A stupid, immature…

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I shouldn’t ‘ave--”

She silenced him with a kiss.

All grown up again.

“Sure,” she breathed when they finally broke apart, “I’ll come with you.”

    1. You know, Remy did actually acquire a girlfriend while I allowed him to grow up around Hidden Springs. But I am VERY evil and used total annihilation on her XD She was just a townie anyway.
